Bar-1 is the product of many years of experience on countless fronts and in numerous events, all lived through by Yoav Barzilai, the company’s founder and CEO and a highly decorated IDF and Yamam warrior. Yoav enlisted in the Paratroopers in 1973, was a veteran of the Battle of the Chinese Farm, and was discharged in 1976. A few months after his discharge, he joined Yamam as an operator and later became an ordnance officer and senior bomb-disposal specialist, participating in hundreds of operations—some classified and some publicized in the media—before leaving the service in 2000. The company holds several patents, including the Omer-1 fast-rope device and the Double Exit system. The Omer-1 fast-rope device was developed and designed for vertical combat and fast-roping and is in use by special units in the IDF and organizations around the world. The Double Exit system, intended for rescue and extraction from buildings, was developed in the aftermath of the September 11 disaster at the World Trade Center.
